To white to be Italian???

Hey everyone so I was recently describing to someone how I’m at least half Italian (or a quarter not sure) based off my dad and grandma/grandpa who are fully Italian . And my mother is Irish and Native American . So I got the more Pale skin tone. And they were picking on me over it. I thought Italians were white ? Or some of them ?? Am I wrong

If you have Native American genes in your ancestry then you’re not just white by definition.
As for the Italian part, the Mediterranean “vibes” you inherit will depend more on where your family is from.. Some Italians are blond haired & blue eyed (mostly up North), and then darker features & tanned/ olive skin is more frequent in the south.
But most importantly.. who’s measuring your race & ethnicity, and what’s the goal here?!

it depends what part you’re from. my family is 100% sicilian which have darker skin caused by the mass gen that’s why we’re typically called “dirty italians” (it’s a racist slur) by the people in the mainland. italians are considered white because our “color” is only temporary.. paler skin is preferred in italy, kinda one of those unattainable beauty standards for most.
sounds like your family needs to keep their american ideal of italians to themselves because if they do have darker skin, they’re considered gross back in the homeland haha

I have seen all different. I’m half I have medium olive skin super dark brown eyes and black hair. My hubby is 100% and lighter skin medium brown hair lighter brown eyes and has freckles and his mom is a red head with green eyes. My youngest sister has blonde hair blue eyes. My daughter is more Italian than I am and I’m darker everything than her. I’d just ignore them doesn’t sound like they know what they are talking about.
