Potty training!!!

I need help potty training my 2 yr old. He is 2yrs and 2 months. Very smart can count to 5 in 2 languages. Talkes in 3 word sentences. But I can't seem to train him to use the potty 😕. He will get hysterical and scream. I explain to him and give him treats and books while he is on the potty. But nothing seems to work. I put a step stoll to the toilet and his seat and try talking him into it , but he'll start screaming..no, no.. will take the stool into the kitchen take off the seat and close the lid. Any tips will help. I feel that he understands the point of the potty but just refuses to use it.
