Suprise party for bf?

I’m thinking of doing a suprise birthday party for my boyfriend it’s kinda not too late to start planning cause his birthday is June 17 but I would do it on a Friday or Saturday but Sunday is Father’s Day and don’t think he would want to spend it hungover without our daughter. But right now we are short on money, behind on bills and possibly rent for next month. I didn’t do anything last year for his birthday because we didn’t have money and I would ask him what he wanted to do and he kept saying idk but he says he hates suprises so I didn’t want to even plan anything for him cause he changes his plans and then ruin my plans. So what should I do? I I would just invite his family and friends and just my close family. I would have 2 1/2 months to start planning .
