Car rides

I have a 1 year old and when we go on any length of car ride she will scream, cry, kick for quite some time. She stops the second shes out the car seat. I've given her drink and snacks before I leave home but that is only satisfying her for a few minutes. I even got her a tablet to play her favorite videos (which helps sometimes). The only thing that I can do to get her to calm down while I'm driving is to sing to her...but I can't always do that. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to help the situation?

PS. I am a long term caregiver and she goes with me when I go, its about a hour long so sometimes she sleeps but the ride home is screaming
