How do you tell sons about periods?

How did you tell them about menstruation? Explain the blood? 
At what age do you begin talking about that?
Separate thing how will you go over talking about puberty and at what age? How will you explain erections  boners how to control them?

My boys follow me into the bathroom, so they know it happens and is just a part of normal life. My 6yo has a good concept of periods, what happens postpartum, and is too good at picking our locks 🙄 
I don't believe there's a magical age for a big talk. Since what happens to our bodies should be natural, it should be small age appropriate conversations since day one. Be honest about what happens, but remember 5yos can't understand college level scientific terms, keep it simple. Just as long as they learn it from you before they learn it from their peers because misinformation between young kids can get dangerous.
As far as masterbation, I've only gotten to the stage of "I understand it feels good, however we play with ourselves in private"

We are not modest in our house at all. My oldest is 11 and from the time he could talk and asked about tampons and pads i just told him girls bleed when they get a certain age. and he started asking questions about sex at 7. He would not let it go. So me and his dad sat him down and talked to him about everything. Weve done everything/body parts in steps and weve always been totally honest about everything. I had my last baby 2 years ago and he really started to understand female anatomy then. Im now pregnant again and he has a much better understanding of how everything works. I think its very important for him to know about everything with women because if he ever gets a girl friend i want him to know how everything works. Theres so many men who are older and still dont get it because no one has taught them. I think its appropriate to approach the situation and be honest especially when they start askimg questions!

Idk my 4 year old is convinced I poop my pants when I have my period because *once* he was in there and saw old brown spotting on a liner. He’s seen blood, he’s seen my cup, all that good stuff, and I told him it’s blood and called my period and happens when there’s no baby inside me but he does not believe it.
We’ll talk about puberty probably around 10 years old unless he brings it up sooner. I’m open and honest with my kids, especially about bodies. Even with my sons. I don’t want anyone experiencing the horror I felt when I got my first period. And I sure as heck don’t want to raise men who are scared of periods.

My kiddo follows me to the bathroom and probably will continue to for some time still 😂🤦‍♀️ he’s too young at the moment to ask, but I will tell him within a couple years, probably just having organic conversations as the questions are asked, that every month mommy’s body prepares in case there is a baby that grows there. It will put up all the nice soft padding on the walls, and get everything nice and comfy, and then will release a super tiny egg. If that egg doesn’t get fertilized it will disintegrate and my body will take all that nice soft blood and tissue padding down and clean it out for next time... but if there is a baby that grows there, it will burrow down and get nice and comfy in that padding and grow there, so my uterus won’t need to clean itself out until the baby comes out too.

With my sister she told he boys after they questioned he about tampons that mommies bleed sometimes and that is what makes them be able to have babies. She explained that it doesn’t hurt and that it just happens like going to the bathroom but not as often.
