How long have you let your child cry it out for?

This is only for the parents that use this method. Parents that don’t, please don’t leave any rude comments. Just trying to see how long you’ve let your lo cry before going back in to check on them. My babe is 22 months old and the longest I’ve let my lo cry is 30 minutes but that’s only because she cries and gets worked up even more if I keep going back in. She’s been going through another sleep regression and she’s really fighting her sleep these days so we’ve had to retrain her. Just tonight I was with her for 2 hours trying to get her to go to sleep, but of course she was prolonging it so I just decided to rip the band aid off and let her cry for 30 minutes and it worked! She’s now laying down and getting comfortable. Hopefully this sleep regression will be over soon. 🙏

Let him cry. If you use extinction, you just make sure he is healthy, fed, and clean, lay him down, and monitor via video. 
The issue you’re having is he’s older. They are stubborn and very attached at this age. I actually think it is sadder the older they are. We used extinction at 5.5 months with my daughter. She cried 40 minutes total and slept through the night on the first night. She can’t say “momma” or anything at that point. The crying is hard to tolerate, but it’s not as sad as when they are begging for you. 
With that being said, sleep training was the best decision I’ve ever made.

When we did it she cried for 33 minutes the first night and after that the max has been 15. Since she knows how to go to sleep on her own now I will go in after 10 and give her a snuggle then put her down and let her fuss again but she usually goes back to sleep within 5 minutes.

I will check the first time if it's been 10-15 minutes and if I know they're just fine then I will usually let them get themselves to sleep after that unless it's been more than 30 minutes. Although my kids never just cry straight for 30 minutes, it's like they cry then are fine then cry again and stop til they sleep hahaha

I’m a supporter or sleep training (some methods), but recommend that during a regression is not the best time to sleep train. 
I used a varied method of ferber, but could never let my kids cry for more than 5 minutes

Depends why they’re crying. Our daughter is 8mo and we let her go about 3-5min when she fusses before going in unless she’s hysterical. Our son is almost 3. In the middle of the night, we go in as soon as we hear him because he’ll work himself into a tizzy, so we try to catch it while he’s still half asleep and all he needs is his blanket pulled back up or something simple. The longest he’s gone is probably 8-10 min but that’s when he’s throwing a tantrum and we need to walk away and cool off before dealing with it. During the day, he’s gone 25-30 min of pure meltdown even with us sitting on the floor nearby (but not looking at him because then he gets even more upset although he’s equally more upset if you leave so...no great option there).

Longest is an hour. Only happened a couple times. If I went in in between then he’d completely lose it! But he goes to sleep now without crying at all! And before we did the cio sleep training it took me 2 hours to get him to sleep and then he’d wake up as soon as I’d lay him down! And he even actually likes his bed now! Before training, he hated his bed! Also, ignore the meanies! CIO works!

Taking the taking Cara babies method which is crying out to a degree but there is middle ground. I’d let him go for at least 5 mins before I went in there and would comfort him without picking him up for while, maybe pick him up and rock him and then if all that didn’t work then finally feed him after like 25 mins.

With us checking in between she could cry for 40-50 minutes. Without checking (we did it with a sleep regression a little later) I can’t remember her crying more than 20 minutes
