Does your breast pump go to the hospital?

FTM question: do you take your haka and/or breast pump to the hospital with you? My plan is to only breastfeed at first but then some friends have mentioned taking it so they can show you how to use it. But then I think if I use it at the hospital I wouldn’t have a freezer to put it in?

You won’t be able to pump very much, and my nurse told me it was safe to keep out for 4 hours, so you’ll use it before you need to refrigerate it anyway! Both times I rented a hospital pump while I was there and it was easier than bringing my own, but if you prefer to use your own then yes by all means bring it!

I’m not going to bring it. I don’t plan to be in the hospital for long, and even I desperately needed a pump I’m pretty sure the hospital has them

Call your hospital. If they have a hospital grade pump I would use that one. If you need a lactation consultant to help set yours up, then bring it with!

We had trouble latching at first, so I was glad to have it so I could stimulate my breasts & start establishing my supply (you want either baby at breast or to pump within the 1st 2 hours of birth) it’s such a small amount I really just used it to put back on my nipple/babies lip to help him want to latch

I believe the only reason to bring your pump to the hospital is for nipple stimulation, if labor were to "slow down". At least that's what out HypnoBirthing instructor suggested... Or dad can always help out in that department 🤪 if you didn't want to use your pump.

You won’t want to use it at the hospital. Baby should be on the breast as much as possible.
