Bitting what to do?

None of my older kids ever bit. My youngest, Jan baby, bites everyone lately. It's not even when he's mad. I was just playing with him and he was laughing/ happy then randomly bit my hand. I'm pregnant, due any day, and would like to stop this before newest baby arrives. Tips??? TIA

They love any reaction so the best bet is to try to respond neutrally not saying ouch as hard as it may be, or yelling, getting upset or laughing. Firmly but calmly saying "teeth aren't for biting people. I can't let you bite me." Then you could suggest a replacement such as "you can have this teething toy to bite. The best way to stop it is trying to prevent it from happening which can be hard when it is sporadic but just be extra cautious when little one moves his mouth near a person and intervene before if possible. Maybe show nice loving gentle kisses to model and practice an acceptable behavior to another person. If you could figure out the reason that can be helpful like communicating something but you saying he bit while happy seems more like it is just kind of an experiment to see what happens or a form of exploring his environment. It probably won't just stop immediately but hopefully that helps and everything goes well with adding your new baby!
