I’m a hairstylist and always get compliments from my clients, and I tell them they’re extensions. I want them to know I’m human and have naturally thin hair like a lot of people.

You don't have to acknowledge that your hair is fake if you don't want to . Just like if you complimented someone saying "you have such nice lips" you wouldn't expect them to say "oh thanks they're fake"

If it's a stranger I just say thank you. If it's someone I know I usually say "thanks I wore my extensions today" or something like that
