God parent + not religious
Light controversy
I was thinking about this because the other day someone brought up my future kids having god parents.
I’m not religious. I would consider myself more spiritual. My husband isn’t religious either. Neither baptized at any church and not interested.
But knowing if something happened to myself/spouse that they have designated godparents or just really close people they can rely on like a parent is important to me.
How many people who aren’t religious still baptize their kids so that they have god parents or do they just say yeah you’re the god parents without the religious part?
Personally, I would feel wired baptizing my kids then having nothing to do with the church/having them be part of something I’m not (unless they wanted to)
Is it weird to have god parents if you aren’t part of the faith?
Would it be called something else at that point?
Sorry lots of questions 😅
