Swimming lessons?

What is everyone doing as far as swimming? How is everyone teaching their November 2019 babies to swim? Are you getting them swimming lessons?

I’m waiting for my town to start the lessons so I can sign her up, If not I will have to drive one hour to take her😭

We work with him ourselves in our own pool. Not focused on actual swimming yet, more just self rescue techniques like flipping to his back to float and getting okay with his face in the water. He’ll actually take in a breath now and close his mouth and dip his own face in. He loves the water.

We did swimming lessons from age 6mo to 1yr old and will be doing them this summer again.

We started swim lessons in March. I wanted him to be super comfortable in the water and start learning the techniques before summer (and we don't live somewhere where it's warm year round). In just a couple months he's learned so much and is very comfortable with his face in the water and he's doing great learning how to float on his back and paddle and kick with assistance. We spend a lot of the summer at the pool, the beach, and boating with friends so having him comfortable and safe around water is very important to me.
I also feel that working with someone that was a "stranger" has been beneficial to him. When I try to assist him in the water and have him paddle and kick he gets lazy and wants to float around or just play and splash with me. When the instructor holds him and has him "swim" to me he is much more focused on actually paddling and kicking.

COVID is still bad in my area so we haven’t had safe access to a pool. I’m hoping we will have some friends get vaccinated and we at least get to swim a few times this season. I taught swimming lessons myself but I still took my son to classes once a week from 5mo-2yo (when COVID made us stop). Probably my biggest thing I’ve missed w my Nov baby is getting to take her swimming 😭 As a swim team, lifeguard, swim instructor, big time swimmer I’m so sad I missed getting to take her.

Hmm she basically taught herself. But mostly us I guess. I don’t bother with paying for lessons with my kids… My son learned fast with us. She learned watching him and us helping. They both swim alone with their things on- And they’re in arms reach of me and another person. There’s always someone with us anyways
