Juneteenth- our newest national holiday

💕

So as we all know, Juneteenth will now be recognized as a national holiday and I was just wondering what was everyone's thoughts on this. I see a lot of people who are happy about it and others, like myself, who are just "eh" about it lol.

To me, it's the absolute bare minimum. Because in a world where black people are still bearing the brunt of slavery and racism, are being discriminated against for things so simple such as hair, are being murdered by cops, and so much more- a quick fix for the moment is making Juneteenth a national holiday, that everyone gets to benefit from 🥴 It's like, I don't need a national holiday in a world full of violence and hate against blacks, maybe some police reform bills being passed, antilynching bills, um.. REPARATIONS! I do like the fact that it is a national holiday, but I just feel as if it came first in a long line of issues which should've or could've been addressed later! But I've saw some good illustrations that also depicts how I feel about this.
