Breastfeeding moms, have you taken antibiotics?

Did it have any impact on your supply or the health of your baby?

Took antibiotics twice for mastitis while I was breastfeeding. I didn't notice an impact on my supply or my baby. He was over 6 months old at the time so we fed him some yogurt while I was on them to help with any potential GI effects.

I'm not sure if it was antibiotics affecting my supply or just the mastitis doing it. Either way if you need them, take them all and just make sure you stay hydrated

The first time I went on antibiotics for mastitis and it it caused my 6 weeks old to have blood in her poop for about 3 months. But I was out on clindamycin and it wasn’t recommended for breastfeeding moms. 
I got mastitis 2 other times but those antibiotics reacted fine with my baby. 
They never effected my supply.

With my first I was on antibiotics for a staph infection. With my second I was on antibiotics for mastitis twice. Never saw an issue with my supply, though the antibiotics did slightly cause diarrhea in both of my kids. They didn’t seem to mind though.

They have an affected my supply but I did get used infection in my baby got thrust but that is extremely common when taking antibiotics. I would recommend taking a probiotic and giving a probiotic to your baby as well

I took antibiotics while breastfeeding when my son was like 5 or 6 weeks. He developed oral thrush and stomach issues. this of course doesn't always happen but that was our experience. I eventually had to get antibiotic shots in an emergency that were not safe for breastfeeding. But there are many breastfeeding safe options for antibiotics

I took 3 antibiotics with my second son and it didn't affect him or my supply.
