Independent Eater?

My son is 14 months, and he's reached the point where he doesn't want any kind of food he can't feed himself. If I try spoon feeding him, he won't have it - occasionally he'll let me load up a fork and put it in his hand, and he'll eat that. But for the most part, he refuses anything he can't grab and take a bite out of. I'm concerned he's not eating enough and running out of ideas on what to feed him!

There’s nothing wrong with this, it’s a good thing that they are wanting to eat independently! Not a chance my boy would let me spoon feed him lol I’m not worried one bit, he will eat as much as he wants/needs himself!

We’ve been giving our daughter cutlery at every meal and she’s been trying to use it but struggles abit and usually ends up eating with her hands. She eats literally anything with her hands. Yogurt, cottage cheese, chilli 😅. She’s been self-feeding with her hands or a preloaded spoon since we started solids at 6 months. Just let him eat with his hands if that’s what he wants to do 😊. I would just keep a fork or spoon nearby as a choice.

My daughter has always been this way since eating solids. She's a small baby but growing on her curve. Don't be too concerned, he will eat what he needs. Just provide plenty and expect a lot of mess.

I haven’t “fed” my baby since she was about 6 months and she eats plenty. Just hand him the spoon and have plenty that he can just eat with his hands. They sometimes like to play with it, but if you keep at it they usually end up eating enough. I pick stuff up off the splash mat and give it back to her...
