If someone says "I wish I had the confidence to wear that"
My opinion: I say that all the time because I literally have no confidence 🙃, so I genuinely mean it when I say that but others think it's a backhanded compliment.

Not backhanded, there’s alot of stuff I wish I could wear that I just wouldn’t be able to get away with because I wouldn’t be comfortable. If I ever say that to someone I genuinely mean it.

My thing is how do you expect them to respond? Like why randomly bring up your insecurity? Especially to a stranger. Just say you like their outfit and move on 😭 It gives very much fishing for compliments or sympathy. Or sometimes just shady, like one time someone told me “I would feel silly with big lashes on like that but you look great” like okay? I bet you would babe you could never 🤨 there’s no point to include that other than shade. Just give a normal compliment
