Dad told me he's proud of me. 🥺

For the first time in my life. 🥺

My husband and I just bought our first home about 2 weeks ago, and he surprised us by stopping by. I haven't seen him in about 5-6 years.

He always treated me like a kid, always seemed to find something negative to say. Heck, when I told him we bought our first home, he immediately said we'd be homeless in less than a month (because of the government).

But then this old military veteran showed up yesterday without warning, and was kind, and told me he's proud of me. 😢

Today is the death anniversary of my mother. This day is a constant reminder I will never hear those words from her, the one I need most. But to hear them from him... It was needed.

And I'm grateful.
