Thoughts???

Question

My sister (30) and I grew up together and we’re like night and day… 
I live 45 minutes to an hour away from her and she rarely come to visit (only if she’s picking up/dropping something off).
Here’s my frustration….. My nephew (15) which is her son always ask me for money for (games, take-out,etc) and I ALWAYS give it to him with no question. Well, yesterday I received a text from my sister. I knew immediately what she wanted before I could even respond. I even made a bet to my husband that she wanted money…. Bc she only text me when she needs MONEY! And of course I won the bet 😏
She lost her job due to attendance, even with a job she was still asking for money. She has a boyfriend that obviously doesn’t help her financially and I’m over being the go-to person for money! 
Thoughts??? 
Note: I really wish some of you were my best friend because you give great advice 💕

Btw -She gets food stamps for groceries…

I learnt long ago about lending people money. Now I'd rather either actually buy food. I'd send her a grocery order rather or something.

I'm 27 and I have two older sisters whom are 3 to 8 years older than me and because of that are more financially stable. I would NEVER ask them for money. I never do actually need money because I have a good career now but there was once a upon time when I was really struggling. Still never reached out. And my sisters are my literal best friends and would help me if I needed it honestly. I think truthfully, if she needs it I would ask what it is for. If it's for groceries for example I would have her go make an Instacart order or something and pay for it that way. Or if it's the bill for electricity, ask if you can pay the bill yourself maybe. Because at this point she might be asking you for money to take advantage. Of course you don't want her to go without food or the barest necessities especially for your nephew but she's 30 years old like dude, you are old enough to figure it out. Since she's your sister I would try to have a told with her about things going on and how she can improve herself. And mention I don't mind helping you once in a while if you truly need it but you can't be depending on me. She needs to learn to depend on herself.

I would stop giving them money, period. They are just using you.

She’s your sister. As long as she’s not downright rude or abusive towards you or your husband/kids, then I’d say help her. But only if you can afford to-don’t give her money that you can’t afford to not get back. I’d also give her some resources towards finding a new job-whether that paying for a resume review, helping her find a temp agency, etc.
