Failure is a necessary part of life to grow and learn. I was such a perfectionist that solo things like my grades or things I was doing had to be perfect and they were. I did not get anything besides a perfect score on a piece of homework or test until my sophomore year of college. Literally I went 14 years of school without missing a question...ever. I won every debate I was in in debate team. I won model UN 4 yrs in high-school. I won every swim meet I was in on solo races. I won every mountain bike race. I got every job, internship, everything I applied for. But I realized watching my friends and classmates learn and grow the same as me but were able to miss a question and it was ok. I learned failure is a necessity because failure is important. When it was no longer the end of the world amd I could allow it I learned things about the world and myself I wouldn't have if I had only allowed perfection. I know why I was so focused on perfection but learning that failing wasn't the end all for me and taking chances you will probably fail in was huge and I wish I would have known that more at 14.
