Wanted space but texted me the same day?

My bf and I have been throughhhhhhh it. He ultimately told me a few days ago that he needed space and who knows where that’ll bring us in the future. I even suggested meeting up in 2 months and he agreed. I haven’t given him the space he needed a week ago so I’m hoping this time something will change. But regardless, we have a group chat with his cousins and his cousins gf. We always send tik toks or funny things in it. We were all sending tik toks and he’d only respond to mine with an “lol”. Then at midnight he sent me a new Kane Brown song that kind of REALLY applies to our situation. I wasn’t going to reply back just to show him how serious I was about his no contact but I did and just said “I love it”. Got no reply after. This morning we were sending tik toks again in the group chat and he literally just texted me as I was typing this. Why is he asking for space but then sends me a personal song last night and all this this morning? I’m trying to stick with the no contact because I do want him to miss me. Like I said I didn’t before so I want to try to do it this time but it’s sooooo hard. Do I just reply back with short messages ? Will he get offended and back off or will this push him to want me more?
