My boyfriend says he finds me irritating a lot of the time. Is this a bad sign?

I mean it's normal to feel occasionally irritated by our partner, no matter how much we care about them and like them- but constant or regular irritation may be a sign that something about the relationship is difficult on him emotionally? 
At least that's my guess. Because I'd you didn't like someone I don't know why you'd stay with them. 
It sounds like something about the relationship isn't really working for him. Perhaps you are doing something you could actually work on? Ask him what is irritating him. 
My partner irritates me when they're around too much. I don't like living with other people, so being "too close" to my partner made them annoying- because they don't clean up after themselves, they don't cook, they basically relied on me a little too much and it stressed me out. They made things harder and more stressful for me without realizing it.
I love them, but I can't maintain that. I think part of it is that I need to change and stop always trying to help my partners too much. I love to help, but if they're always there I forget myself. Like my partner is an adult, they need to be responsible for themselves and I need to stay out of it. 
But now we have more space, and after this break I'm happy with them. They just unintentionally burnt me out. 
But, we can't really know what your boyfriend is experiencing when he says that. He's gotta be more specific or it definitely won't be solved.
