Baby has a doctors visit but don’t have insurance yet!?!

Baby is 4 months old and don’t bash me but I haven’t figured out insurance yet. I don’t know where to even look to get it. If someone could point me in the right dorection I’d appreciate that. But we are scheduled for his circumcision tomorrow and other potential tests. I don’t have insurance yet for him. Do I need it to even get this done? When I get insurance, will they cover the costs of this procedure? Or should I reschedule? They were wanting to do it a month after his birth but I wanted to wait since he has a hydroceyle and wanted it to go down so there weren’t complications.

Healthcare.gov if you're in the US. They won't back pay bills so if the plan isn't active on the date of office visits/circumcision, they won't pay you back for it. Get signed up today for insurance but you'll probably have to reschedule until insurance is set unless you can afford to pay out of pocket.

If you can call the drs office, ask them if it’s okay if you’re a cash paying customer.  Then you can just pay up front!  I don’t know anything about enrolling, sorry.  We only have 30 days to get our babies on.  Last time we got our son enrolled on day 30🥴

You do not need insurance to get it done, you can pay out of pocket. It’s not likely you’ll find insurance that will be effective tomorrow. Even if you find a private insurance plan today and pay your premium today many run month to month so would start the 1st of next month. If you have the procedure done tmrw and then get insurance after, no it will not cover anything that was done before the policy effective date.

We weren’t allowed to do HealthCare.gov because we qualified for state insurance for our kids. Our state insurance was a hot mess to deal with so for the first 3 months we didn’t have insurance. The hospital billed us but noted that in our file that we were in the process they just weren’t approving our son (it was HORRIBLE they kept screwing up our info and my husband would sit on hold for 5 hours just to talk to someone). However, now that it’s all settled, they are back billing to his birth so the hospital resent the bills to the insurance. Don’t feel bad! Just make sure you’re talking to people and keeping everyone up to date.

In the US you start at healthcare.gov if it’s not available through your or your partners employer.  It’s really easy to do the application and you may even qualify for a break on cost income wise if you make under a certain amount.  If not, the plans can be pricey.  As far as the visit that’s already scheduled, there is no way to get insurance today to cover it unfortunately.  When you get signed up for a plan, and I’d do it ASAP, it won’t be effective until April 1, which is luckily really close.☺️ If I were you I’d get on, get signed up for a plan, and reschedule that appointment for next week so you’re not paying out of pocket for it.  Paying out of pocket is always an option, but if you don’t have to I wouldn’t.

Do you have an option to get it through work? Are you in the states? I can’t get it through work so I went on my state insurance website and was able to get it there. You can apply for Medicaid to get the price lowered but you will have to reschedule the appointment it can take a week or two to hear back if you qualify. I did not qualify and I pay 500$ a month for just my insurance (ouch) so I HIGHLY recommend trying to get your monthly down by applying. The whole process can take a while so I would probably reschedule baby for a month out and start that today. I am no expert just speaking from my experience but I’m sure online there are tons of phone numbers and people you can contact on Monday.
