Should I give him the diamond? 💍

My boyfriend has talked about proposing soon. I have my late mother’s diamond from her engagement ring. But it’s on my ring from my previous marriage... I’m not sure if I should give it to him to put in a new band? It was my mom’s, it would save him money, but the whole “ex” thing makes me feel ekkk 🥴… Bad vibes lol. 
My other option is just getting my mom’s diamond put into a necklace, and pawning the band / smaller diamonds. Then just let my boyfriend buy a new one. He can afford it, but would it be wrong letting him do that when I have a diamond already?

I think the idea of a new ring with your moms diamond sounds really nice. That way, the ring isn't associated with your ex and it was always your mom's diamond to begin with.

I would take the diamond that was originally your mom's, but remounted into a ring your "ex gave you" and take it apart. Mount the diamond into a pendant or cocktail ring...something that you can wear to remember her by. Then let your current boyfriend get you a new ring.
I'm all.about the "handown" and "reporpose" but you did it once already. You kinda can't do it again. 😬

You should have the conversation with him and see what he wants to do or how he feels about it. He might want the diamond to design a new ring or he might not and want you to have it put into a necklace! I think you both should mutually decide what is done for your engagement ring 💛
