What cities/states in the country are good to raise a family in? Safe, affordable and good school?

There's a ton of small towns and cities in Washington state and Oregon. The pacific northwest is beautiful!

You can find great places in any state.  I have outed all over the USA and every place has great places that are affordable and good schools can be found in every state same as bad schools. Find what you like to do and look at places you like the climate and go from there. You could find the greatest dream house and wonderful school in say Maine but if you hate snow and cold weather it won't matter, you'll hate living there. If you like going to concerts and sports events and shows then somewhere like Montana won't be ideal. I was able to find great things about every place I lived but some would never want to settle in long term because they just weren't for me. Make a list of things you want and don't want and find places that match then look at things like wages, housing costs and schools and go from there.
