Is this a tongue tie??

I know my son is crying in this photo but it’s when i noticed it, if it’s a tongue tie who do i talk to? his pediatrician?

Most definitely. A pediatric dentist would be able to help with this. Most pediatricians don’t know a ton about ties. My daughter just had hers done by a dentist with a laser.

Start with your pediatrician. Mine was able to snip it in office and it wasn’t a big deal but my son was only a couple days old. If your pediatrician doesn’t offer that or your child is older they will refer you to a pediatric dentist. 
On the flip side, my daughter had a very mild tongue tie. We decided not to do anything about it. She’s 6 now and you would never know she has/had one nor does it affect her life whatsoever.

Kind of looks like it. I would start with your pediatrician, but then see an IBCLC as well. They’re more trained at looking for ties

Our pediatrician was not helpful; we were referred to a pediatric dentist by our lactation consultant. The dentist was great and used a laser to fix his lip and tongue tie. The pediatrician said, "If his tongue doesn't look like a heart then there's no problem." His latch and feeding improved a lot a couple weeks after the procedure! He cried less after it than when he got his vaccines. Definitely worth getting a specialist to check it out!! It can lead to speech issues later in life as well if not corrected.

Maybe! There’s no way to tell unless you have a person actually get their hands in there. Contrary to popular belief, you can’t tell just by looking. Also, not all ties need intervention. Our pediatric dentist evaluated and found 3 ties in my babies mouth and chose not to release any of them. Her latch problems resolved themselves and now she’s a great feeder. I would go to someone who does this regularly. Pediatricians have knowledge but it’s not their expertise, so my vote is dentist. Especially if you’re trying to avoid unnecessary procedures
