I wonder why she came to me

We were at the mall trying to find me some comfortable shoes. My boyfriend had to use the bathroom so I just stood out infront of a store waiting for him. There were quite a few people there and a lot of people had their kids. This little girl comes up and stands by me and I didn’t think anything of it. She was looking at me and sniffled so I looked at her and then I glanced around to see an adult or her family and nobody was there that looked like they could be. She was little and I thought that was odd. She just looked at me and put her hands together like she wanted to say something to me so i asked her if she was okay and asked where her mom was and she said “I don’t know. I’m lost.” And I didn’t want to just walk off with a child or take her anywhere. Like maybe her mom was out of sight but knew where she was. So I walked into the store we were standing infront of and asked if they could do a speaker announcement to find her mom, and she ended up finding her and apologized to us. Like no worries mom it happens.

That actually happened to me as a kid. You stop to look at something for a second and your moms just gone lol and you stand there and look for her in the crowd and can’t see her and you’re like “oh crap”

But I never went to anyone I just sat there and waited for my mom to come find me because i was terrified. This little girl looked like she was internally freaking out and she looked about 6/7

I do wonder though why out of everyone she came to me. It’s scary being a lost kid because you have no idea who you can approach that’s safe
