Would you give 6 year old hand me down laptop?

Question

I got a new laptop and my old one has been sitting in a drawer. My daughter will be 7 in December and I'm strongly considering clearing off my old laptop and giving it to her and putting some restrictions on it. She would use it to play games, Netflix shows, etc.

I would happily give a child a used laptop.
But I don't see the need in that age yet. So I answeered no, because I won't give 6 yo a laptop. Used or not

I understand the reservations people have with young children using devices so young, but the thing is that technology is being used so much in schools/learning now that it's just a part of life.
Do I think kids of that age should be given free range to use a phone/laptop/tablet?....absolutely not. They're still young, moldable and don't know the dark side/dangers of the internet yet.( I wish schools would provide some quality courses on that very subject.)
Do I think it's fine to allow them to use it for educational purposes while being supervised? Yes. There are a lot of great education based apps, games and activities out there.

Give her… no. Allow her to use it… sure. Id probably try to sell it to get something newer. I was gonna say save it for her to do school work but I wonder if it will be outdated by then.

I would only let a six year old use it under my supervision in a common area of the house. Our public schools have kids on computers daily and the programs they use can also be accessed from home. I’d keep it for educational games at that age. Like even abc mouse if your schools don’t have specific recommendations.

I said no because at 6 what would they need a laptop for?! 
I know my nephew get my brothers old iPad now and then for youtube videos the odd time to keep him and his sister relaxed

I suggest funding her a fun typing game. Technology is part of life now so itd be good for her to learn the skill young

We gave my 3 year old my old one lol. He almost never uses it but thinks it's cool to "type" on Word and sometimes uses online painting games.
