How to decide if I should leave a two year relationship?

I’m with a guy named “Tom” who’s 24. I’m 26.

I’ve been with tom for almost two years now, but have had a really hard time getting over the fact he’s broken up with me twice (though it only lasted a day each time-still.)

Once was on my birthday and another was after a really bad argument.

On my birthday I was having a rough time due to the history of my previous gone-wrong birthdays and was honestly feeling as if I wanted to die. I expressed this to him and his reaction was “Oh my god that’s so fucking toxic” we argued and he broke up with me with a lin being “you’re too traumatized for me to want to be in a relationship with.” And “if I had known this before I wouldn’t have gotten it you.” He apologized for these statements and breaking up with me because he “didn’t want it to affect my birthdays and scar me for time to come.” In a fit of tears.

I know he is regretful for the way he acted, but the issue lies more in I don’t know if I can get over it.

He’s got communication issues as he’s a very quiet man of few words. I’m much more talkative. I’ve asked him to work on his communication so we can speak better in arguments and when I’m away on work, but he doesn’t want to and says it’s a part of his personality he doesn’t want to change.

At the end of the day I do dearly love him and I’m worried that if I leave him I’m going to regret it in the future or even a day later, but for now I’m away on a job for a month and I keep returning to thoughts of leaving.

How can I be sure of my decision? What would you ask yourself or tell your bestie in a time like this?

Edit:: I live with him and he currently has my cat while I’m away at work. If I break up with him I’m effectively without a home 5k miles away from my family and main supports. I have a platonic male friend & his girlfriend who are willing to let me stay with them for a minute until I get my things together, but I’m just so unsure.
