Daycare new staff

My LOs daycare has an intern as a new staff member, male. I spoke to the main daycare teacher for my daughter’s group, that my husband and I would feel more comfortable for her or the other female teacher that we know and our daughter likes, to change her diaper or take her to the bathroom. She first was hesitant to respond but said it can be arranged but has to discuss it with the daycare manager and will get back to me.

For us this is intimate and my daughter was very hesitant to go inside daycare once she saw the new intern at the door. Also his first day.

Is this a reasonable request?

I’m not in the US so there might be background checks but definitely not from FBI and not sure how thorough they do them
