Would you go for it

I went to a restaurant tonight and right when I walked in my attention was on a guy and a girl for some reason. The guy came up to me and asked to sit with me so I let him. He told me with straight eye contact he thinks I’m beautiful but he thinks I’m trouble, he also asked for my name and where I live (I told him a location near me not my exact location). I just laughed and he asked for my number so I gave it to him. Turns out we lived in the same town. We went to opposite schools though. I have very bad memories from my town and with my childhood specifically. I’m worried that the relationship won’t turn out okay because in my prior relationships people have spread rumors about me, used things against me, twisted things around on me, and over all just hurt me in general to the point where just thinking about it makes me sick. I have also had domestic violence situations occur a few times within the recent year. I thought I’ll just leave it at the talking stage for now.
