Best way to divorce?

Is a lawyer really necessary? We have a baby under 1. I really don’t have the money since I’m a SAHM. I will have a talk with him tonight, I have no idea if he will be willing to pay for it. It breaks my heart, he’s a great person, amazing father and husband. He tries his best but I’m no longer happy in our marriage.

I mean if you’re getting divorced you’re gonna have to get a job anyways why not just go ahead and start working to help pay for the divorce.

I don’t know if you’ll need a lawyer, but since a young child is involved you’ll want to get everything documented (custody arrangements, child support, etc). That may involve professional assistance of some kind.

Just depends on your situation. My 1st divorce was no contest. We didn't have any representation. We filled out the paperwork packets, had a hearing & it was done. No kids. However, same state and no contest, I know someone that did this with kids and they had to take a parenting class and come up with their own parenting plan before the divorce was granted. Just do your research so you know what you need to ask for (and what you can ask for). For example, I wanted my last name back and I had to request the courts permission. Some states/ locations also require a legal separatin for X amount of time first. 
My current husband and I have a postnuptial that outlines everything. We did this for a few reasons; to protect us, our assets and to avoid unnecessary fights later. It includes financial information and allocations, parenting agreements, even what happens to our dogs lol. Because of this, if we divorce, we just go to the attorney that drew it up, they submit to the judge, then we sign the paperwork once the judge signs off (no hearings).
