What is appropriate?

I am wondering.. so at what point is male-female interaction inappropriate?
between male-female colleagues
between male-female friends
in private/company..?

Answer

I think each couple gets to determine their own comfort level. My husband and I dont spend time with opposite sex friends alone. So I have an old friend from high school (male) and we'd hang out with his wife or my husband, or both. If we need to message opposite sex friends, we do it like to plan logistics of a get together, some sort of purpose, or general how are you or happy birthday type messaging. So for example I dont confide in my guy friends or have long phone conversations. Coworkers we of course have to interact with at work, but we dont hang out outside of work unless it's like a group holiday/birthday party and we dont discuss personal things like marital disagreements etc, maybe just casual conversation like so and so is going to Orlando on vacation is fine, but nothing intimate about our lives or flirty. Just to be clear these expectations are mutual eg my husband holds to them as well.

Answer

When they do or say anything that they wouldn't do/say in front of their partner. When they talk about their marital problems. When they give them more attention then their spouse. When they become someone else's confidante (allowing them to come to them about marital problems, etc). Colleagues should be working anyway and not risking their job. Most jobs don't allow fraternizing.
