It’s mostly just 2 people we want to ask to not bring their children/grandchildren when meeting our second born the first time. My MIL decided when my daughter was 3 days old to bring her other granddaughter without asking us first and she kept touching my daughters face, got jealous that MIL was holding the baby so she hit my newborn daughter. My best friends 2 kids are just really horrible and don’t listen when inside of my house whatsoever. I just want the germs to stay away and to spend one on one time with people and not have other kids in my newborns face.

It’s your baby, your healing… I don’t care what number baby this is for you. That’s your child and your healing experience….
You should have complete control over who is allowed in the space. People should respect your space during this special/delicate time. 🙄

Theoretically, if the kids have germs, the parents are also likely to be carrying them. I would just wait to have those people/families visit when babe is a little older, if these are your concerns. I would never want to tell someone, essentially, “Please go out of your way to find a babysitter for your kids so you can come look at and listen to my potentially crying baby”.
It’s not that your concerns aren’t valid, they absolutely are. I’d flip if somebody’s kid hit my newborn. But I’m also of the mind that not everyone has to meet my babies when they are fresh from the factory, I like to enjoy the quiet time and the intimate bonding with baby without having to entertain other people.

After next week I won't babysit for friends anymore as I'll be 38 weeks, don't want to go into labor babysitting. Then for at least 3 months after he is born, if not more depending how bad things like RSV are going around. It's been bad before winter even started out here and makes me nervous for my almost 2 year old too. 
Some have taken that news wonderfully and respect and understand. Some feel like I dropped a bomb on them. 
They all knew when I started babysitting and found out I was pregnant NINE MONTHS AGO that this was coming. So I don't understand the people mad at me that they lost a reliable babysitter, like they didn't have loads of time to find other options. 
No kids around baby. Simple as that.

Def not rude. 
My first son was born in 2019 (before covid) 
And I made sure everyone who came to meet him had mask on and washed their hands and put hand sanitizer on. I also told them no kids. Personally whenever I do go around new borns I always ask a family member to babysit. 
And I make sure to wear a mask, wash my hands, use hand sanitizer, and ask the parents first if it is okay to hold their baby. 
Right now this is the worst flu season. Do anything to protect your child. They’re parents and should understand.

Your baby your boundaries! I told my partner I don’t want everyone to come over at the same time after I give birth or bombard me at the hospital (and this is my first). They can see baby on my time when I’m ready. 🤷🏽‍♀️ you do you girl.

It’s not rude as it’s your kid and it’s your choice. we didn’t want ANY kids around our newborn until he had his first round of shots. our families weren’t happy but boo freakin hoo. i didn’t feel it was fair to tell one person no kids but another say it’s fine, so we just had a strict no child policy until 2 months.

Just send out a message that at this time only adults are allowed and that due to current world conditions you are requiring masks and hand washing before they carry the baby.

I did not really vote bc it depends on how you word it to them whether it’s rude or not! There is always a nice way to go about things and a not nice way. Choose the high road and it’s not rude at all! I personally would use germs as the sole excuse and not behavior, even though you think it! But be consistent with other families as well. Good luck!
