Why do you Love America?

Question

There's another feed going about why other countries think America/Americans are stupid, so let's do the counter view, too. Why do you LOVE America/Americans? I would like to hear viewpoints from across the world, not just Americans.

Why do I 'love' the US? Honestly, I think because of Stockholm Syndrome. There are rights and privileges that I receive here that I may not have had access to in other places, but every privilege seems to come with a plethora of hidden costs that kill a person slowly.

I love what America stands for...land of the free, home of the brave. Despite our problems and our ignorance, we are still a shining beacon of opportunity to the rest of the world. Even America's poorest live better than 70% of humanity across the globe. Most of our people are good hearted and hard working, and I love that about us!

Honestly..  I'm starting to hate this country more and more and I continue to become more and more embarrassed to call myself an American.  I do enjoy our culture,  freedom and traditions but I'm starting to wonder if I could get that elsewhere. I wish we weren't filled with so many conceited, entitled, arrogant people! I'd love us so much more!

I loved America because here we are free to criticise our country and not fear retribution from the government.  
Also everytime I hear something like female circumcision or what they do to women in India, I am incredibly thankful I had my girls here.  Here where the most likely worry is teen pregnacy, not my teen being "sold" into domestic slavery.

I love our cultural sense of order in crowds. I like that we make rigid lines/queues for services (cashiers, getting on a bus, etc.) and cars stay in straight lanes in traffic. I also like our wide sense of personal space in crowds.
   
I know that crowd order and personal space are cultural things, though, and it only seems better to me because I'm used to it. Our rigid lines and far spaces between each other must discomfort visitors the way close crowds and nonlinear traffic discomfort me when I travel.

I don't love America. However, I do recognize the opportunities that are here that I may not have been afforded if I lived elsewhere.

I am European, also an American citizens. There are a million reasons to love this country. The list can go on, but these are probably the most important reasons to why people come to America!

I love the fact that majority of women are independent, hard working, have a job or a career, and don't need a man for financial support.

In other parts of the world( of course not true for all women) they are forced to marry at a young age because the family can't support them . Even worse, some are sacrificing their body and soul by dating someone who is rich, or financially stable who can afford to buy them shoes, clothes, cellphone, cars and the list goes on. Some women even skip meals , because they want to buy a nice shirt or jewelry instead! Crazy right?! There are women who never worked a day in their life, they are dependent on their husband. Their husband has affairs and they're aware but can't divorce him because they have no place to go, children to take care of, no job opportunities and divorce is not always acceptable. That's like living in prison!

Safety: you can always call 911 when you feel unsafe whether it's your husband, boyfriend or a stranger trying to hurt you!  The police and ambulance will show up within minutes! This doesn't happen very often in some other countries! We have support groups here that we can call. Other countries don't have this luxury!

Opportunities: there are so many places hiring! It might not be a dream job but it's a job!

This is a good question it's nice to see something positive for a change. Especially in light if recent events. *There's a ton that I don't love about America*, but I'm intentionally being Pollyanna here:

I love our constitution. I love the rights and protections it grants us. I love the natural beauty of the states. There's still some beautiful, wild, untamed places. I love our cities even more. The diversity here is unlike anywhere else. I can take a trip across the world without ever leaving my county. Man I love the food. I love the ideal of the American dream. That we can become anything we choose. Even if it's not realistic, it is worth fighting for.

Most of all though I love the people. We can be totally loud and obnoxious at times. We can also be kind, and welcoming, and accepting. Love won, the flags down, marches are happening. We have a hell of a long way to go, but we're changing as a country for the better everyday.

I love the U.S. For being so self centred that it believes it's a whole continent.

I also love how it preaches freedom, but only reserves that freedom for the rich, white, male, cisgender, straight and U.S. born.

I love the lack of free health care, the government that does nothing good, the substandard education, and let's not forget that one time there was a nationwide panic when twinkies got discontinued! That was the best! *sarcasm*
I honestly wish I had the funds to move away from here. I feel like this country is the Titanic, and we already hit the iceburg.
