Second wedding?

Question

Husband and I got married through the courthouse but want to get our marriage recognized by the church in about 2 years and have a reception....I know that it is frowned upon by many because they keep saying that our "wedding" was at the courthouse. Has anyone ever done the same? And what things did you leave out or add to your reception because they were inappropriate/appropriate from a standard wedding? Any tips on what invitations should say or church ceremony will go? Opinions appreciated :)

We had a "proper" fancy wedding & reception two years after our courthouse wedding. It was beautiful! It definitely took the pressure off planning, which was good and bad. It took a lot longer to actually settle on a date because we were already married and living together.  But I wouldn't trade either day for anything.

I got married last year at the courthouse. I said I would have a wedding one day but at this rate.. I'm over it - We have a 10 month old and I'm 14 weeks pregnant... I'd rather we pay for a vacation...

I got an actual wedding dress and we took professional pics at a nearby park. I'm good.

We did this. My husband was in the Marines, so when we decided to get married there was no time to plan anything big.  Our vow renewal is actually in just over 2 weeks, we've been married for 5 yeas now. We're doing some of the traditional wedding moments,  but not all.  Like I got a real wedding gown, but we're not doing the bouquet or garder toss. I just keep telling everyone we're doing this just for the party and pictures since we didn't get that the first time around.

That's what my husband and I are planning to do. We eloped in savanna ga. And we are going to have a vow renewal. We still don't want to do too much because we do not want to spend a crap  ton on one day. Basically we were going to have a nice reception and renew our vows there. I say do whatever you want because it's your day. Make it memorable! !! 😊

My husband and I did the courthouse thing.  We were planning to do a big wedding/renewing vows for our 10 year anniversary but being that it is in October and I'm due November we're waiting till either the 15 or 20 year.  Still in discussion.

The living and work situation between my best friend and his SO was such that they needed to get married for a lot if logistical reasons. The we're already engaged. Once their busy hectic lives settled down, they did the big fancy wedding which was one if the best ones I've ever been to.

I got married Oct 24th 14 in the court house this year on our anniversary we are having a ceremony with dress and all and a big reception. Just bc ur marriage was witness by the court doesn't mean family and friends got to celebrate so enjoy the planning of a big party :) we are only  changing the ceremony to read our own vows, and not have a pastor or justice of the peace. Just an announcer for the in between you may read yours you may read yours stuff.

My husband and I did the same thing , courthouse right before he deployed almost 5 years ago don't even have a picture. We are planning on a renewal and reception in February for our 5 year anniversary

We are doing this we did a very very small ceremony the first time (none of his family was there and only my parents/brothers and grandparents were there) and are planning on doing our vow renewal ceremony for our 5 yr. We will have been married for 2 yrs this October. I plan on making it just like a regular wedding. Except people don't need to bring gifts.
