Emotions running wild

Last night, I asked my husband what color we should paint the baby's room if it's a boy. (I had said that I liked lavender for a girl.) He said "white" and for whatever reason, it made me very upset that he would want our child to be in a blank room with no color. I thought he was joking at first, but he wasn't. He tried to justify it by saying that his room was white when he was a kid... I just don't think that makes since in this day and age. It's not like we live in an apartment where we're not allowed to paint the walls. I just think if you are able to, you should want to pick a color and a theme for your child's room. It's our first child and I just want to make their room special. Am I being crazy or would that upset you, too?
