Pregnancy or due to just stopping BC 1 month ago?

DH and I are TTC our 1st. I stopped taking BC (pill) on July 4th. AF was very irregular before I started BC (about 8 years ago). AF was like clock work while on BC. This past Monday at 3AM I had a BFN and Monday evening AF came... But it has only been spotting and AF is usually pretty heavy. Could it be because I may be pregnant or could it be because this is my first cycle off BC? When should I test again?

Thank you all. I'm trying to keep my hopes low so I don't get massive disappointment with every BFN I receive.

It can take time after coming off BC for the uterine lining to build back up enough to see a normal period.

I had my BC removed in June.. 3 weeks later I got 2 positives! Unfortunately I got bloodwork done a week ago.. Yeah I'm not pregnant.... I did have a cyst rupture because I got my BC taken out and it messes with your hormones it takes 90 days for your body to go back to normal is what my doctor told me so I'm still pissed we thought we really got lucky !
