Blood clots after going off pill? HELP

My husband and I got married October 10th. We decided I would still taking the pill that month and start trying for a baby. My period came October 13th and I stopped birth control that day. My period lasted 4 days when it normally lasts 6-9. I've always had heavy periods and cramping even on the pill.

We tried when I was ovulating last month knowing I was coming off the pill and expecting me not to have a chance to get pregnant but tried anyway.

I got my period about 5 days ago and it's been heavier than ever in my life. I've had so many thick blood clots and still horrible cramping. I soak a tampon and bleed into a pad within two or three hours and find myself feeling the urge to pee every two hours and end up changing my tampon at work so many times per day.

I'm on day 5 and my period still isn't letting up. I wake up in the middle of the night and this morning had a huge clot.

Is this normal for coming off the pill? I took Alycen or whatever it's called.

My period flow lessened on the pill so now it's so heavy and even heavier than how it used to be when I wasn't taking any pill.

Should I ask the doctor if something is wrong ?

This doesn't sound too concerning to me because this isn't that unusual for my period (although it's usually slacking quite a bit by day 3 or 4). However, if it isn't normal for you, you may want to speak with your doctor.

Typically coming off the pill can do all sorts of weird things to your period. For some women the changes and weirdness lasts for a few months!

The clots are just endometrial lining, usually, that sloughed off of your uterus and for whatever reason failed to break down into a more easily passable material.

Soaking a pad and/or tampon as often as you are typically is not medically concerning, it's usually at the 1 hour mark that doctors get concerned. Which drives me up the wall, 2-3 hours is still fast and irksome.

Definitely contact your OB for a preconception check up, and ask to be seen ASAP so they can give you a once over and hopefully check to make sure nothing is seriously wrong.
