Sign of early pregnancy?

My husband and I started TTC about a week and a half ago, and I've felt different and yesterday (sorry if this is too much info) I had a mucus like discharge that I've never had before. I looked it up and it said it could be an early sign of pregnancy. My next period should be in 3 days but obviously it's too soon to test after just a week. When should I try to take a test?
