Why do i feel like this?

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now, and with Christmas coming up stuff has been getting too me. Last Christmas he told me and his whole family he was getting me a ring. (They all told me cause they couldn't keep the excitement in.) Well when I found out I got super excited and when Christmas came all i got was a VS giftcard and a pillowpet. His whole family was disappointed and shocked as too what happened. How do I tell him after nearly a year I knew what he was gonna get me and I was disappointed yet surprised? I'm not a material person. Just something like that is a big deal ya know? Like do I have the right to feel disappointment?

It's possible he found out that his family told you and ended up waiting so he could surprise you. I wouldn't say anything yet. Have you guys talked about marriage and a possible timeline of how you see the relationship progressing? That's a good conversation to have if you haven't already. This happened to my best friend. Her bf found out she knew and refused to do it because he wanted it to be on his terms. It happened like a year later unexpectedly.

What I don't understand is why they would tell you something like that? They couldn't contain their excitement? Selfish. That puts a lot of pressure on him. You might be disappointed, but for whatever reason, he wasn't ready to pop the question and that should be respected. You can't make him do it. You have every right to move on if you feel like you're wasting time with him.

I was with my man for 6 years before I saw a ring. Men are weird. They do things in their own time. When they feel rushed, they dig in their heels to slow down. He might have gotten scared at the reaction of his family. He's still with you and still loves you, so I say just go with the flow for a while longer. However, if you're really unhappy, you may want to talk to him about it. It might be best to wait a while longer though.
