Pubic hair

Since I have a boyfriend now and would like to lose my virginity in the next few months (finally), I was wondering what you girls prefer to do when it comes to pubic hair? I've shaved my bikini area when necessary, and trim down the rest, but shaving always leaves me itchy and with ingrown hair. I was thinking of trying bikini wax. I guess it all comes down to, will a guy really care if I'm not completely hairless down there?
