Sooo... I love my boyfriend. I really do. And I'm sure he loves me. But he just isn't thoughtful. Sometimes I wish he would bring me flowers. Or random surprises. Or tell me I'm the most beautiful girl he's ever seen. But he never does. He does sweet things for me don't get me wrong. But not like that sweet guy in the movies. So what do y'all think? Should I talk to him about it? I would feel stupid saying "you need to call me pretty!" You know?

You guys should read the 5 Love Languages, or watch the author give a seminar on the book (there's some on YouTube). It really helped my husband and I. 
My "love language" was quality time. Like one on one, just us, no cell phones or TV, just time alone. Well, the way my husband was showing love was by acts of service... Cleaning house, doing dishes, washing clothes, keeping up the maintenance on my car. 
We were completely missing what each other needed, and once we found out how the other best received love, there's been lots of little changes on how we show each other love and its completely changed our marriage for the better.

people demonstrate love in different ways, but if you are really bothered just talk to him about it - dont like say "do this!!", just explain your feelings

Girl it's the same for me and my boyfriend, we've been together going on 3 years and it's the same exact thing. Granted he does call me beautiful a few times a week and it's very rare that he will do something sweet for me, but he does open the car door for me a lot. I think it's just they type of guys they are, it's very rare but there are only a FEW guys that are actually like that

My bf is the same..he says I'm pretty or beautiful literally once in a blue moon we've been together 8 months and he's only called me beautiful 3 times..he isn't romantic what so ever. He said he's just not that type of guy..he has surprised me with special gifts before..I love him and I know he loves me but sometimes I wish I didn't have to tell him what I like or expect

I have noticed that you need to spell everything out for some men. My boyfriend after about a year ONE thing gets through.... I just got my flowers that I've been asking for.

Yeah, my hubby is the same. He stinks at romantic things, or even doing nice things sometimes. I try to tell myself not to expect too much. I sent myself flowers for Mothers Day one year and he got mad at me. I can't win.

I find the best way to get love and romance, is to give it first. Do something nice for him and see if he reciprocates it. If he doesn't, you need to have an honest conversation about what you want and need. Make sure to put it in a positive light, " remember when you did x, I really enjoyed that. " If he complains about your requests, perhaps you need to consider long-term compatibility .

Food for thought: I wasted 5 years on a jerk who just never fulfilled my needs completely. Now My husband of 4 years fulfills them without me even asking.

My husband doesn't send me flowers very often, but when he does, its just because. It makes it more special when its just a random day. And he shows me love in so many other ways.
