Has anyone taught their baby sign language?

Was it helpful? Do you feel it discouraged them from talking? Would you say it was more of a benefit or not?

Im specifically asking women who have experience with teaching their baby sign language for early communication skills, before they are able to speak.

I want to teach my baby sign language to help him communicate what he wants & thus lessen frustration. My mom taught me & she swears by it, & funny enough, I still remember some of the basics. Yes, no, please, thank you, more, stuff like that.
