Do you ever feel 'selfish' for wanting or bringing a baby/child into the world we live in?

I have a 3 year old little boy and sometimes i will look at this amazing little person and think what life he has ahead for him and sometime i feel so freaking selfish! Terrorists, rapists, muderers, teachers turning out to be peodophiles, miserable people everywhere you walk, world war 3 right around the corner, a generation of tecnology, no jobs due to robots taking over, the whole world is 'money this, money that' what world will he be left behind in once we are no longer here. Other times i feel so happy that he gets to experience such a wonderful life. Do you ever feel selfish for bringing a life into this world?

Different times different problems. My grandma use to have to dress up as a boy during the war in hitlers time. She had to dress as a boy because soldiers use to rape little girls in the streets. That's was the 1940s. I'm sure her mother had the same worries. You live life for the good and push thru the bad.

😕Yes.. But we'll try our best to bring her up the right way and shielded as much as possible from all the bad. We'll do what we can and leave the rest to God.

Well, that's one way to look at it. You could also say that today people are living longer with less disease. Medical and scientific advancements are speeding forward at a pace never seen before. People have more rights than ever before and women, lgbt, and disabled are now recognized as contributing members of society, something never seen before on this scale. Crime is at an all time historical low, despite what media might say. Environmental health has never been a bigger priority than it is now, and signs are showing that efforts have not been in vain. 
I know it's easier to see the bad in the world, but really things are better now than they have been in a really long time.

Yes! I actually do! Sometimes I actually get downright depressed to think of how the world will be when my kids are grown. Will it be like hunger games? Will it be like the purge? Scares me. All these movies really don't help with it either.

If we were meant to stop producing children even with the way the world is going, something would have happened to stop us from having more. Definitely tough times, hard to deal with. It only makes it more difficult for us parents to try and raise children in such a wicked world like we live in today. Selfish? No. People die left and right, just as are being born.

Sometimes it's scary to think about. But I trust in God and know that my little boy is supposed to be here :)

I feel that you have to focus on the possibilities of each kid. What if they grow up to make great changes in the world? What if they become a lawyer who campaigns for rape victims rights? Or what if she becomes a scientist snd discovers a cure for a disease? What if they negotiate a truce and end a war? Or what if they do something small in their community? What if they grow up and volunteer every week at a soup kitchen? What if they coach their neighborhood kids soccer team, and inspire another child to go to college and play soccer? There are a lot of bad people in the world, but there are a lot of good people in the world as well, and each child has the possibility to become great, even in ordinary ways.

Raise him to be a good person in a bad world and he will do good. Ultimately turns you into saving the world!
