Am I wrong for wanting my BF to pay me back?

So , I helped my BF get him a new car . We live together and we are talking about marriage but still ... It was money from my savings account , kind of like a pillow just in case anything happened and we still had to pay bills ...  I had to put 1,000 down and now , I kind of think about it twice because I don't think he's trying to pay me back . At first he was like , why? You're my gf ... But then He said he would give me the income tax that came in (it was barely 200$) but he went a little spending crazy , then his sister asked him for 100$ and of course he said yes . So , he's down to 300 - with a 472 car note , 330 insurance and 300 rent . He'll get paid again before any of these are due , but not enough to cover 800$ ... His checks go from 600-750$ .
