Considering that's a rather old fashioned saying, I'd assume he was just being cheeky. You told him it bothers you, and if it's still weighing on you then should tell him (in person) why and move on.

I catch myself calling my husband 'bud' or 'buddy' all the time. It's an affective term I use on our son. The first time I said it I felt pretty silly, but he just laughed and said 'I'll be your buddy!' Hahaha

The question is how does he make you feel and how does he treat you. Does he make you feel loved, valued, cherished and respected or...... Does he make you feel lik you aren't important or nothing to him. If he treat you bad then Mayb you should be upset he calls you that. If he treats you good, let it go.

I call my fiancé "bruh" depending on what we're talking about. I talk to him in a slightly more awkward way than I talk to friends just because he's my best friend and he knows how weird I can actually be. But he never judges so I feel safe to be a weirdo.
