What's it like?

What does your water breaking feel like? There's a huge chance I'll go into labor at work and I want to get an idea of what that'll be like. Is it messy and uncomfortable? Maybe i should keep a change of clothes ready at work? Also, Its about a 1 mile walk from my job to my car in the employee parking lot. Will I be able to make it? So many questions lol

It can't hurt to keep a change of clothes at work just in case. I'm sure you'll make it to the parking lot- but again, backup plans never hurt. Maybe a coworker can get your car and pick you up at the door? But if you can't walk to your car, should you be driving anyway?

Mine felt like a big gush. I had just been admitted since I was already 3 mins apart. And I told the nurse I either just peed myself or my water just broke.

So it could be a gush or a trickle.. or it might not break at all and the doctors will break it. Some don't break until your pushing.. it's nothing to be embarassed about if it does break in a gush at work.. amniotic fluid is sterile so it's nothing for anyone to be grossed out about and if I had to walk a milk in labor I'd love it. Walking helps it progress and makes you feel better just don't wait to the point you can't walk.

Labor is different for everybody. My contractions started out far apart and didn't really feel them, eventually they got stronger and closer together. My water did break early on with my daughters, it kinda feels like your peeing on yourself and you can't control it and it steadily leaked throughout labor. With my son they broke my water when I was 6 cm. I also had a "bloody show" but that was after contractions started and it was not a lot of blood.
