School field trip
So my daughter begged me to come to a field trip with her class today. Despite the cramping I decided to come with her. We went to a petting zoo then it started raining. Instead of going back to school so we could take our kids home or whatever, what do they do? Go to the park, not even joking. Well my daughter told me she wanted to purchase lunch at the school cafeteria. Fine I say. Well she didn't get to pick what she was BUYING. What do they send? 2 pieces of bread, some deli meat, a bag of apple slices, (old tasting) carrots, and a mini rice Krispy treat. Not even a drink. That sent me over the edge, I thought she would be able to pick what she wanted since hey, I'm paying for it. Told her, screw it, eat what you feel like eating and I'll take you to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. She ended up throwing everything away except for the apple slices.
Next field trip I am packing her lunch as usual, screw the school cafeteria. NEVER in 12 years of school in Puerto Rico I saw such lousy lunches as they do here in the states. How hard is it to serve real food? I rought only the breakfast sucked. Seriously, pop tarts for breakfast? Frozen sugar covered French toast sticks? Sugar packed cereal? Whatever happened to toast, eggs, oatmeal? Maybe it's the hormones but I'm really bothered by this. Hopefully we'll be able to get the heck out of here soon so I can get my child some real food, it will also be nice to have girls only lunch since her brother will be in school and step dad at work.
