Are cats protective?

Question

Dogs have long been considered to be protective of their owners, homes, etc. but I'm curious if people believe cats have the capacity to want to protect their owners as well. Sorry if this sounds silly but I recently saw a video supporting this and want to know your thoughts. Have you witnessed a cat being protective over an owner?

Every time my s/o and I try to have sex my cat comes to my "rescue." 😑

Ours is. He lets us know when there are delivery or maintenance guys, then supervises them. Any friends get thoroughly cat-scanned before being allowed to stay unhindered. If we're ever out late he alerts the neighbors, then scolds us when we do get home. He's a very large cat, weighing in at 17lbs, so he's intimidating to most people and he knows it.

Depends on the cat. My cat Kayko was very protective of me. He bit a JW's ankle when the guy stuck his foot in the door.

Anya (I don't really remember) used to care for me all the time when I was a baby. She used to alert my parents if something was wrong.

Mine always have been.  My cat growing up attacked two different boyfriends of mine because he thought they were hurting me (tickling).  When I first gave my husband a key to my house (dating at the time) He came over in the middle of the night. I woke up to my cat standing over me growling at him. I had to calm the cat down before Matt could crawl in bed.

My cat isn't neccesarily protective .... But if I cry or sometimes even if I'm just generally sad , he comes and cuddles me and stays until I get up or until I feel better. He tries so hard to make me feel better it's so sweet!

My boys are. I once let a stray cat in during a winter storm and it attacked me, both my boys jumped the stray to get it off my arm. The stray was super nice outside and my boys had met him on the porch but I guess being inside was too much for him. My oldest also used to pee on my ex's pillow every chance he got, I found out later that my ex was sleeping with my roommate. I like to think he was revenge peeing.

My one cat is extremely protective of myself and my daughter.  Nobody can touch us if he's around, he'll push himself between. If we're sleeping he has to be awake and alert around us.

Idk about protective. But I've noticed after me and my man get into a fight, one of my cats sometimes sprays on his things. Like his jacket or his shoes, or his work papers 😂 never my stuff
