Doppler at doctors appointments

My doctor doesn't do doppler at our appointments. His method is to just read up on pregnancy, buckle down and enjoy the ride. I had my first ultrasound at 9 weeks and found my little one to be totally healthy with a heart rate of 163 bpm. My next appointment with my doctor is this Friday (11 weeks) but I'm sure I won't have another ultrasound until 18-20 weeks. I think my husband and I have decided to go ahead and announce at 12 weeks, because we want all the prayer we can get and I'd announce and ask for prayer even if something were to go wrong anyway (which it won't in Jesus name!). Any one else have a doctor who doesn't do Doppler at every appointment?
