Rude?

So DH and I bought a fee tests. Two of the .88 ones and a pink dye equate 2 pack. The cashier was a younger woman... who looked at the tests, looked at us, raised her eyebrows and said "are you expecting?"

...............I wanted to hit her. The tone was so condescending. Even my husband was quiet for a second. He was the one that answered "Hope so." I just stared at her.

Was it rude. I feel like it was rude. Or am I over reacting?

Why would be buying tests if you ready knew you were pregnant? She sounds like a knob. But you should be able to buy whatever you want without them commenting on it.

It would be her tone that would have gotten me. Honestly, as a cashier, small talk is what makes the day. But you have to have the right tone. I've learned that and there's many more ways she could have said that without it offending you.

That's why when I buy tests I try to use self checkout
